New Composition of the Buenos Aires Province Chamber of Deputies

In Buenos Aires Province, the newly elected deputies from the September 7th elections were presented with their certificates of eligibility to assume their seats in the provincial Chamber of Deputies. Following the ceremony, the ruling majority agreed on the new president of the provincial Chamber of Deputies, who will be Alejandro Dichiara, a kirchnerist leader who held the position in 2024. The vice president will be Alexis Guerrera, representing the massist wing; the first vice president will be Agustín Forchieri, linked to the new Interior Minister, Diego Santilli; and the second vice president will be the libertarian Juan Osaba. This leadership change occurs amid ongoing debates over the funding requested by the provincial governor, Axel Kicillof. The ruling majority hopes that negotiations with the opposition will lead to a successful conclusion, allowing the governor to secure the approval of the legislative package he sent to the Legislature. Key points of contention include funding for mayors and vacant positions at Banco Provincia, which are being used as leverage to unblock the financial agreement with opposition blocs.
